Good bye 2014, Hello 2015

This year was riddled by lots of ups and downs. Year after year I am learning to accept what life has to offer and how to be more patient and optimistic.

It seems that everything, no matter how bad it looks, is there to teach me a lesson. Life seems to always remind of this nice story.

These are the worthwhile things I accomplished this year:

  • Personal
    • I was in a three month relationship with an American girl: the relationship was a learning experience and insight into the American women mentality
    • I received my American Green Card. The best gift in my life so far, aside from my good health and the continuous inspiration from life and my creator
    • I learned about the MGTOW philosophy
    • I juice fasted for 10 days
    • I experienced for the first time Foot Reflexology Path at the Bastyr University
    • I took a short stories writing course
    • I started learning Spanish
    • I read 15+ books
    • I bought my first MacBook and started learning how to use MacOS
  • Publication
    • Published my first book as a co-author: Practical Reverse Engineering. Thanks to Bruce Dang for giving me the chance to participate in this endeavor
      • The book’s right has been acquired for Korean and Chinese translation
      • I did my first book signing event at the RSA Conference in San Francisco
    • I signed up as a co-author for another technical book that will be published by Wiley
    • I started writing my first eBook to be published on Amazon.com in 2015
  • Blog
    • Bought the lallouslab.net domain and linked it to my blog account
    • I published ~51 posts
    • I had ~78,295 visitors for 2014
  • Work
    • Filed my first patent with 2 other colleagues at work
      • Gave a related sponsored talk at Black Hat 2014 in Las Vegas
      • Received the second price for the Hex-Rays plugins contest
    • I got a promotion
    • I did 3 interviews and got 3 offers. I will be starting a new career path in 2015

My dear readers, may the year 2015 be full of success, more patience and learning experiences.

I would like to end this blog post and last one for 2014 with the Metta Prayer:

May all beings be well and safe, may they be at ease.

Whatever living beings there may be, whether moving or standing still, without exception, whether large, great, middling, or small, whether tiny or substantial,

Whether seen or unseen, whether living near or far,

Born or unborn; may all beings be happy.

Let none deceive or despise another anywhere. Let none wish harm to another, in anger or in hate.
