Dream – Death and Reincarnation

A few month back, I had the following dream:

I was driving my car and I suddenly lost control of it and it strayed from the right all the way to the left and hit another men’s four wheeler. The other driver was not harmed but became so enraged. He stepped out of his car, shot and killed me. My body was dead but I was still able to see what’s happening around me. I was like a ghost or spirit. I could roam anywhere I want and fly.

Dreaming of a white bird

The other night, I had a dream and it went something like this:
white bird

I was walking on a journey. I am not sure where I was going, but I was not alone and I did not recognize any of the people that I was journeying with.
While walking that path, I see a white bird land into my hand out of no where. I don’t know a lot about bird the various species but I know for sure that it was not a pigeon but could very well be a young/small dove or just a white bird.

What struck me about it is its bright snow white color. I was happy with the bird’s visit and I was also surprised because it is a rare occurrence to see a bird befriend a human being immediately.

The bird was so affectionate and it starting bunting me (rubbing its head on my neck) and this triggered the emotion of love within me. It was the first time I felt so much love in a dream.

I immediately bonded with and started loving that bird. I then cupped it in my hands, wanting to protect it, and then brought it closer to my heart to express all the love I received from it, and then let the bird fly away. The bird then flew out of my hands and I continued the journey.

A short while after, the bird reappeared I felt that the bird came back in a rush because it was distressed and seeking help. I extended my hand and it landed on my palm again. It continued the journey with me for a while and then it flew once more.

Later, I missed the bird and I called it by extending my arm and making the intention that it comes back to me. The bird heeded my call and appeared out of nowhere, only to land on my hand again. It stayed for a while with me and flew away again for third time. I felt that each time it flies away, it has a business to attend to but I don’t know what it is.

During its absence, I started to feel worried about its safety. Because the bird is free to come and go, I started questioning “what if it flies away and never returns back?”, “what if I miss it and need its love and attention and it won’t be here anymore?”, “what if it gets lost?”, “what if someone else captures it?”, etc. I then started thinking that I should put it in a cage (for its own protection so it does not get lost or attacked by a prey) the next time it comes back.

I may have awakened from the dream before it came back or it never came back, I don’t remember. However, what I remember clearly was that it may have never returned because I started to have doubt and I wanted to put it in a cage.

Sleeping tips – Basic Sleep Hygiene

This is a multi-part short article about sleeping tips to help you improve your sleep.

Basic sleep hygiene

Like you have food hygiene principles, there are also a set of sleep hygiene principles that can help you get a good night’s sleep:
sleep-1

  • Slow down your mind: do relaxing activities before going to bed, do not keep on working and then abruptly try to go to sleep. Your mind will keep on “rolling” and will take the problems with it. Slow your mind down before going to sleep.
  • Don’t feast at night: Unless you want to watch lots of action dreams or nightmares, do not eat heavy meals before going to sleep! You don’t want to make your body busy digesting. You want to have your body rejuvenate itself.
  • Avoid bright lights: Don’t stare at bright screens too long before going to sleep (like your phone or tablet). Instead, read a physical book or if you have to, use a dimly lit e-ink based reader like Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite.
  • Avoid caffeine at least a couple of hours before going to sleep: to some, drinking caffeine will not help them fall asleep fast or soundly at night.
  • Your bedroom is for sleeping only: while you can do other “stuff” in your bedroom, keep unpleasant and distracting activities outside the bedroom essentially. No computers, eating, playing with your electronic devices all night long, etc…
  • Organized sleeping time: your body loves order and routine (same like your mind loves patterns). Make a habit to sleep no longer than 10PM each night and learn how to wake up naturally without an alarm.

…and the list goes on, but you get the idea.

Now you may ask “What if I still cannot fall asleep?”

The answer to this is a topic for another blog post in this series. However, if there is something I learned during my quest for better sleep is the fact that if you are in bed, tossing around and around not able to sleep then don’t stress about it! Accept that fact and relax until you eventually lose consciousness and drift into sleep.

Some dreams that can become true

Hello Reader,

How does it feel when you wake up in the morning after having a dream showing your best friend dying and you had the chance to sit with him/her and say goodbye before he/she part you the next day?

I know it is a sad feeling, how you cannot afford loosing such dear person to you….you may forcefully wake yourself up from the dream…Alternatively, you may allow your being to express the sad emotions and let tears flow from your eyes and start the process of self healing and release.

But why are we really that sad?

Perhaps because we are loosing something? Continue reading
