Where are the coins? How are they disappearing?
This is a story from my childhood, a rather funny story that I want to share with you:
Back when I was around 8 to 9 years old, I found a small amusement center where they had a few arcade games, and a couple billiard table.
These places were frequented by what my parents would call: “Thugs, impolite, and people with bad influence”. They did not want me to go to this place because as far as they know this place could be dangerous for a young schoolboy.
Of course, I was afraid too of bad influence but the arcade games are irresistible.
To prevent me from going, my parents will not give me money or they would ask me how I am spending my time and money.
In a sense, after school I should be back home and any other activity should be close by and my parents should know where I am at all time.
As a young kid, I had to find an excuse, a legitimate excuse to justify the time when I am able to sneak out, go to that place and play.
The other problem was that I needed money so I can go there and play!
One day, I was going through my dad’s drawer and I found a bag full of quarters. “Jackpot!”, I said to myself.
This bag had so many coins that no way my dad kept a count of them. I figured if I take a few each day, go play for one hour or so, then no one would notice.
What was my excuse regarding where I would be spending my time? I would tell my parents I have to go to the library and study with a friend. The library was just across the street from that arcade place, a perfect excuse. My friend too, wanted to play with me, so we both had good excuses.
Each time I would go with my school buddy, we would cover each other’s lies and backs. We would make sure no one saw us coming in or out from the arcade place. After all, in a small town, everybody knows everybody.
This charade went on for a while: I would steal a few coins, make excuses and go play Street Fighter, Contra and all those old arcade games that still gives me nostalgia when I think about them!
After a while, the bag of quarters eventually ran out. It took a while for my dad to notice, but when he did, he asked me: “Where did all the coins disappear?”
I was afraid but I had to tell the truth. My dad was not happy about it but he knew that if I had my own video game console then I won’t be spending money outside or go to that place at all.
Two weeks later, my dad returns home with a Nintendo NES System!
I stopped going to the Arcade games place and started playing at home. This started a new phase in my life where I become addicted to video games. I became so good at playing that my friends would lend me a game just so that they sit next to me and watch me play it from beginning to end in a matter of hours.

The king and the three ministers
Once upon a time, a king summoned his three ministers and asked each minister to take a bag, go to the palace’s garden and fill that bag with all kinds of delicious fruits. He clearly told them not to ask anybody for help and not to rely on each other. Each one should fulfill this task by himself. The first minister set about filling the bag with all the best fruits and vegetables. He wanted to please the king, so he made sure he chose carefully. By the end of the day, he had filled his bag with the best and delicious fruits he could find.

PayPal account phishing
In a previous article, How your Yahoo! Mail account can be hacked with phishing – A real life example, I mentioned how Yahoo email phishing can take place. Phishing can take place with any website especially where hackers have a chance to steal money.
I keep receiving PayPal.com phishing emails. The sender pretends to be from PayPal and asks me to take some action and click a link to remedy the situation: “Warning! Your PayPal account was limited!” Continue reading “PayPal account phishing”
Yoga pants and short shorts – The peak of degeneracy
I find Yoga pants and short shorts (when worn out of context) really degrading for women and young girls.
Such outfits are inappropriate and are a very trashy way to get dressed and go in public.
Out of context (say in a professional office setting, in a church, etc.) I perceive girls that dress like that as those who are just trying to be visually provocative, and are asking for attention and validation through their body.
It is one thing to dress “comfortably”, it is another thing to know deep inside that what you wear is “sexy” and gets the heads turning all towards your goods.
How did women dress “comfortably” before the invention of such outfits?
It is sad that these days, a girl causes a man to look at her ass or boobs rather than at her face, her character and personality.
A quote from Proverbs 6:25
Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.

8 ways to misuse Facebook and hurt your psyche
I started using Facebook back in 2007 after a lot of peer pressure and after many friends and relatives started using it.
The reason why I delayed and pondered whether to join or not, was about my privacy concerns and about the fact that posting personal photos of myself, friends and family was not something that made me feel at ease.
During the years, I have been using Facebook, I was becoming truly aware of its negative effect on my psyche and the psyche of many of those who were on my friends list.
In late 2012, I took the decision to quit using Facebook. It was an easy choice. I did lose many of my “friends”, but I won real ones that make effort to write me an email and see me in person.
In late 2014, I re-activated my account in order to promote this blog. I also changed the way I use it: Just as an advertisement platform and a little bit like a social network. Continue reading “8 ways to misuse Facebook and hurt your psyche”

The Pledge of Allegiance
Hi,
I am not a U.S citizen yet but I live here. I did not learn the Pledge of Allegiance at school, but the first time I heard it, it was during a fraternal meeting. I really loved it. Actually I appreciate to learn something on my own than having to be forced to learn in an institution such as school, church or university.
This pledge, in my opinion, holds so many virtues that are worth discussing.
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
When I look at you and see you beautiful
Many times, when I am in public places such as coffeeshops, I see beautiful women. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
To me, they are just too pretty like a piece of art. A beautiful creation of nature.
Just once, I wish to wake up and see…a united world!
I would like to wake up one day, look at the world and see:
- A Christian quoting the Quran
- A Muslim quoting the Bhagavad Gita or the Bible
- A Buddhist quoting the Torah
- Jews and Muslims in peace
- The media writing about news as they are
- The rich and the poor walking together
- The knowledgeable educating the ignorant
- The positive person teaching and inspiring the negative person
- The arrogant becoming humble
- Terrorists changing their ways and finding the light
- Powerful countries helping developing countries
- Science and religion merging
- All the nation praying for one God, one truth
- The world in harmony
- No more wars, killing and violence
And that’s not my Christmas wish.
