Days of the week as people

days-of-week
The other day I was reading Jamie’s blog and I was intrigued by the post she had written as an assignment for her writing group. She was asked to describe the days of the week as if they were people 🙂

I liked the idea, so here’s my version of characters I give to each day of the week as if they were employees in a big company.

Monday

A very motivated, creative and enthusiastic person. I know I may be tired from a long fun day from the day before, but I can’t wait to start creating something new. “Yes boss”, you can count on me. Continue reading “Days of the week as people”

Yoga pants and short shorts – The peak of degeneracy

I find Yoga pants and short shorts (when worn out of context) really degrading for women and young girls.
Such outfits are inappropriate and are a very trashy way to get dressed and go in public.

Out of context (say in a professional office setting, in a church, etc.) I perceive girls that dress like that as those who are just trying to be visually provocative, and are asking for attention and validation through their body.

It is one thing to dress “comfortably”, it is another thing to know deep inside that what you wear is “sexy” and gets the heads turning all towards your goods.

How did women dress “comfortably” before the invention of such outfits?

It is sad that these days, a girl causes a man to look at her ass or boobs rather than at her face, her character and personality.

A quote from Proverbs 6:25

Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.

I started using Facebook back in 2007 after a lot of peer pressure and after many friends and relatives started using it.

The reason why I delayed and pondered whether to join or not, was about my privacy concerns and about the fact that posting personal photos of myself, friends and family was not something that made me feel at ease.

During the years, I have been using Facebook, I was becoming truly aware of its negative effect on my psyche and the psyche of many of those who were on my friends list.

In late 2012, I took the decision to quit using Facebook. It was an easy choice. I did lose many of my “friends”, but I won real ones that make effort to write me an email and see me in person.

In late 2014, I re-activated my account in order to promote this blog. I also changed the way I use it: Just as an advertisement platform and a little bit like a social network. Continue reading “8 ways to misuse Facebook and hurt your psyche”

AT&T: That is what happens when you forget data roaming setting on!

att-atrocities

So I went to Vancouver by car and forgot my phone’s data roaming setting on!

An hour later I realized that and turned it off…It was too late because my phone downloaded 12MB (luckily)…but AT&T charged me 188$ for 12MB of data 🙂

What can I say!! We are in the 21st century and in the USA (and not some 3rd world country) and yet AT&T charges 188$ for 12MBs! What a shame! Sometimes paying high bills for cellular data, often higher than some 3rd world countries, make me really feel sad about how technology is there but greedy people benefit from it!

Oh well….Isn’t T-Mobile better with its free data roaming plans?

Do you have other “horror” stories related to AT&T to share? Please post your comments!

UPDATE 02/25/2015

I got to contact AT&T customer service by phone and the representative did not help me: “Sir, per our policy, we cannot do anything about that”.
I tried the online chat and explained the situation. The representative asked his supervisor what can be done in this situation. They explained because it was by mistake and the first time that this happens, they will credit me back 50% of that amount.

Better than nothing.

I still believe they can do better than T-Mobile when it comes to cheaper or free data roaming in North America.

StraightTalk: Are you thinking to use their service? Think again

Hello,

I share with you my negative experience with StraightTalk.

I was a happy user of AT&T but wanted to save some bucks and StraightTalk looked nice and I figured I give a try.

By the way, this is an article that costed me 59.06$ (and 2+ hours of frustration) because I paid for something I never received and could not get a refund. Read on to know why. Continue reading “StraightTalk: Are you thinking to use their service? Think again”

Free Bahamas Cruise Scam and how to protect yourself from scammers and unwanted telemarketers

Hello, Today I got a call on my cellphone from an unknown number:  (913)-370-9619. When I picked up the phone, the lady started talking so fast that I missed the introduction. Her voice was smooth and computer like but I could not really tell for sure. She asked me if I wanted to go for a free cruise to the Bahamas in exchange for telling my friends and family about their service.

free-bahamas-cruise

Before she can tell me more details she wanted me to see if I qualify:

  • If I am above 18 years of age
  • If I have a credit card (because on the cruise’s casino you can pay by credit card only)
  • If I am willing to travel within the coming 18 month

Beware of Vehicle protection center

Hello,

Two weeks ago, I received a phone call while having lunch:

  • Phone operator: “Hello, is this Mr. NAME…”
  • Me: “Yes”
  • “I am calling because your car warranty is about to expire, are you the owner of Honda Civic 2012?”

I was a bit surprised when this guy called me. I had an immediate sense of a scam taking place. I kept silent and listenened furthermore.

The phone operator sounded like in his twenties and he sounded an amateur. He was surprised by my silence. I could sense hesitation in his voice. Continue reading “Beware of Vehicle protection center”

Rental Car and the car damage waiver insurance plan

Recently, I started going on personal trips in various States and each time I had to rent a car.

Renting a car means that not only you pay a daily rental rate for the car but are also offered to buy an optional LDW (Loss/Damage/Collision Waiver insurance plan aka LDW / CDW).

The LDW costs from $9 to $30 dollars a day. That could be the same rate as the car rental itself, thus you are paying double the price to rent a car.

So the question is, what are your options to save money and should you?

There are two answers to this question and each with its cons and pros. Continue reading “Rental Car and the car damage waiver insurance plan”
